Harvey Richard Ware, H. R. Ware

Harvey R. Ware (February 9, 1830-?) was a lawyer, judge, and public official. He was a Republican. He was involved in negotiations over election security.[1]

He served in the Confederate army. Adelbert Ames appointed him chancellor of a mississippi judicial district in 1875. In 1882, the Hinds County Gazette described him as clever and reputable. His letters criticizing select Republicans he saw holding the party back are extant. He describes certain Republicans as working for personal benefit with "Bourbon" Democrats.[3]

He served as state chancellor and assistant United States Attorney.[4]

He served during the Civil War. Union? Confed? Married. Wartime letters extant.

He was involved in a report on the 1875 Mississippi elections.

In 1876 when he was a United States Commissioner of courts, he was documented as living in Brandon, Mississippi.[7]
