He is the founder of the **Hari Maharjan Project (HMP)** and **Nepal Gypsy Jazz**, through which he has redefined Nepal's music scene.[1]

[edit]Hari Maharjan's journey into music was shaped by his passion for combining diverse musical styles. He started to learn newari traditional instrument Dhimey, at the tender age of 6 which contibuted his inclination towards music. After holding guitar at the age of 11, he never looked back. Starting with local tunes and songs, he sharpened his skills and found his lifes calling. His formal exposure to gypsy jazz began during his studies in France under the mentorship of French maestro **Daniel Givone**, where he honed his skills in this genre.[2]

The rich musical history of newa was disappearing slowly and Hari wanted to make the traditional music relevant again to ever changing musical scenrio. Hari Maharjan's work bridges traditional and modern music, creating a unique space for Nepali sounds on the global stage. Through the Hari Maharjan Project and Nepal Gypsy Jazz, he has elevated Nepal's presence in the world of jazz and fusion music.[9]
