Hana Bath was born in Hobart, Tasmania, and later moved to South Perth. Her mother is Japanese, her father Australian and she has one younger brother who was born in 2013. She began skating at the age of 5 and started formal lessons when she was 5. Hana trained under Evgeni and Maria Borounov at Cockburn Ice Arena in Perth. At age 14 Hana moved to Osaka, Japan, to continue her training with coaches Taijin Hiraike and Yukako Sugita.
