He attended Seochang Elementary School, until age 5 when his family moved to Mokpo, where he attended Okam Elementary School. At age 9, he moved to Malaysia, where he attended Fairview International School in Kuala Lumpur.[1] In 2015, Han returned to South Korea to complete his school qualification examinations, in which he made an agreement with his parents that he would return to Malaysia if he didn't succeed in joining an entertainment agency.
Career
[edit]2015–2017: Pre-debut
[edit]After returning to South Korea, Han began taking rap and vocal lessons at DEF Music Academy, as well as taking dance lessons at DEF Dance Skool in Gangnam.[2][3]
In 2015, Han auditioned in the rapping category for JYP Entertainment, in which he passed both rounds of auditions, being accepted as a trainee under the label.[4]
In 2016, Han formed the hip hop team 3Racha alongside fellow Stray Kids members Bang Chan and Changbin, promoting under the group using the alias J.One. 3Racha released multiple extended plays on SoundCloud throughout 2017.[5]
2017–present: Stray Kids and solo endeavors
[edit]In 2017, Han appeared in the musical survival show Stray Kids, a reality show by JYP Entertainment produced by Mnet, in which 9 trainees under JYP would have to prove their capability to debut in a boy group. On the show, Han took on the roles of rap, vocal, and music production, in which he landed a place in the final group, debuting as Stray Kids member.[6] Following the reality show, in January 2018, Stray Kids released their pre-debut mixtape extended play, lit. titled Mixtape.
Han officially debuted as a member of Stray Kids on March 25, 2018, following their debut showcase Stray Kids Unveil (Op. 01: I Am Not), taking place at Jangchung Arena.[7][8][9] The following day, Stray Kids released their official debut extended play, titled I Am Not, in which Han acted as a songwriter for the EP.
On May 7, 2020, "Close", a song performed and written by Han, aswell as co-composed and arranged with member Bang Chan, was released on YouTube.[10] It was the first solo song to ever be released from a member of Stray Kids, starting the group's renowned music compilation known as "SKZ-REPLAY". The song was later included as a track of the SKZ-Replay album released in December 2022, which also featured Han's single "Run".[11][12]
In January 2023, Han and fellow Stray Kids members Bang Chan and Changbin were promoted to full members of Korea Music Copyright Association (known as KOMCA), making Han the youngest member of the organisation, with over 135 registered credits to his name as of December 2022.[13]
Other ventures
