The Goychbil Caravanserai dates back to the Safavid period and is located in Ahar County on the Ahar-Tabriz road in the Goychbil Pass. It was registered as one of the national monuments of Iran on December 19, 1379, with registration number 2920.
Inscription on the World Heritage List
[edit]On September 16, 1402, at the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, the Goychbil Caravanserai was included in the World Heritage List along with 53 other historical caravanserais (a total of 54 caravanserais in 24 provinces of Iran). The title of the Caravanserai of Iran, this world complex is recognized as the 20th and seventh world monument of Iran.
