Great Lengths S.p.A. SB, established in 1992,[1] is an Italian company specializing in the production of high-quality, natural hair extensions.[2][3][4], Headquartered in Nepi, Italy.[1][5] The company is recognized for its ethically sourced human hair, handcrafted manufacturing processes, and innovative technologies. Over the years, Great Lengths has become a global leader in the hair extensions industry, distributing its products in over 50 countries.[1][2][6]
History
[edit]Great Lengths was founded in Rome by Matteo Antonino, originally in partnership with British entrepreneur David Gold. The company gained a reputation for producing hair extensions using ethical practices and high-quality materials. In 2011, Gold left the company and sold his shares to Antonino,[7] agreeing not to compete in the industry.[8]
Great Lengths initiated several industry innovations, including the introduction of ultrasonic technology for the cold application of hair extensions in 2001.[2]
Products
[edit]Great Lengths produces a range of hair extensions,[3][4] including the popular GL Tapes[9] and GL Pre-Bonded lines[9] .The company produces handcrafted hair extensions in Italy using Remy hair [9], which has aligned cuticles that contribute to a natural appearance.
Ethical Sourcing
[edit]All Great Lengths hair is ethically sourced from Indian Temples as part of a religious ritual, known as Tonsure. Hindus donate their hair as an offering to the Indian god Vishnu.[6] According to an ancient myth, the angel Nila Devi gave a lock of her hair to the god, after he had lost his own in battle. Such a gesture was so appreciated that Vishnu decided to grant the wishes of anyone who would donate their hair to him.[10]
Controversy
[edit]In 2011, David Gold, the co-founder of Great Lengths, left the company and sold his shares to Matteo Antonino.[11]
