Global Bank Ethiopia S.C. is one of the private banks established in August 2012 with a subscribed capital of Birr 266.9 million and a paid-up capital of Birr 138.9 million. In the time being paid-up capital of global bank is boosted from Birr 138.9 million to Birr 2.4 billion, and the subscribed capital is Birr 5 billion. With more than one million customers throughout the country global bank has more than 240 branches. Over the past years, GBE has experienced tremendous growth in its paid-up capital, deposits, and total assets. The bank has expanded its branch network to over 120 branches across Ethiopia and has more than 9,000 shareholders. [1] GBE provides a wide range of both domestic and international banking services with a focus on superior customer service. It offers services such as demand deposits, savings deposits, fixed time deposits, loans and advances, international trade facilitation, and online banking. [1] The bank operates under the principles of Islamic finance, offering Sharia-compliant financial products and services. It provides a special "Global Hakika" debit card for its interest-free banking customers. [1] GBE has a strong focus on technology and digital banking. It offers online banking, mobile banking, and peer-to-peer social media transfers for the convenience of its customers. [1] The bank's headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and it employs between 1,001 to 5,000 people. [2]
