Gionathan (2023)

Gionathan is an Italian songwriter, music producer, and videographer. He gained wider recognition through his participation in the talent show X Factor in 2013.[1]

Career

[edit]

Gionathan released his debut album Come Sabbia in 2014 under the name “Gionathan & Mista B”, which was produced in collaboration with DJ MistaB. The tracks from the album and several singles received plays on Italian radio stations and were released on various compilations. This gave the band the opportunity to perform on several festival stages in Italy.

In 2015, the live tour of “Gionathan and the Groovers” began and the album DiVersione Acustica was released. The band played sold-out concerts and their music continued to be played on the radio across the country.

In 2017, the band reached the finals of TourMusicFest and took third place at SanRemo Rock Festival.[2][3] The same year they were selected by Red Ronnie as a FIAT Music band to open a concert by The Kolors in Turin.[4]

In 2018, Gionathan released the single Niente di strano together with a music video. In the summer of the same year, he signed a contract with the Swiss label profimusic and went on tour through Italy.

In 2019, the singles and music videos Caduta Libera, Friendzone, A tempo su di noi and Stanotte were released.

In January 2020, Gionathan was one of ten artists invited to RadioMusicFest[5] and performed on the Europe-wide TV show VeNew274.

This was followed in 2021 by the release of the single Dimmi di no, accompanied by a tour of central and southern Italy. In the fall of the same year, the single Luna Park was released in collaboration with Karen Marra.

In February 2022, Gionathan was selected as one of the 24 finalists at the first Christian music festival in Sanremo, where he won the prize for best composition and the Alberto Testa Prize with the song Tu mi hai amato per primo.[6] On April 8, 2022, he released his first solo album Anima Libera. This was followed by the summer hit Paprika and the duet Free/Libero with Dutch artist BlackRockStar, which enabled him to tour Italy and Switzerland.

In 2023, Gionathan continued the Anima Libera and Free/Libero tour. In the same year, he released the funk song Brand New Shoes and the duet I see you move with producer FreakMe. In June 2023, the single Mojito was released, a duet with Italo disco artist Neja, which was successful on Italian radio stations. The singles Va bene così, Al mio posto and Cartagine followed in the fall and winter.

In July 2024, Gionathan released the single Ho sempre odiato gli anni '80 together with Johnson Righeira, which was reviewed by several major media outlets, including Rai and La Stampa.
