‘’‘Dr. Ghulam Qadir Lone’’’ (born 1957) is a renowned Kashmiri Islamic scholar and author, known for his contributions to the fields of Sufism and the history of medieval Muslim scientists. He has written several influential books that have been well-received in both India and Pakistan. His works are widely studied in academic institutions and have been incorporated into university syllabi across South Asia.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Ghulam Qadir Lone was born in Hadipora, Kashmir, into a modest family in 1957. His journey into the world of academia began at the University of Lucknow, where he completed his Master’s in Arabic in 1977. During his time in Lucknow, he was introduced to the vast resources of the Shibli library at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, which deeply impacted his intellectual pursuits. He went on to complete his PhD in Arabic.

Dr. Lone is best known for his expertise in Sufism and his writings on the contributions of Muslim scientists during the medieval period.
