Draft:George St. Pierre Brooks

George St. Pierre Brooks was an American compelled, as were many slaves in the South, to serve the Confederate Army. He escaped and joined the Union. He emigrated to Canada in 1900. Served in World War I. Performed with P. T. Barnum prior to Barnum's circus. And sang with the Fisk Jubilee Singers.[1]
