George B. Murphy Jr. (1906-1986) was a civil rights leader in Maryland. He was photographed in 1941 with fellow delegates at the first state convention of the Maryland NAACP. He was honored for his work equalizing teacher pay.

In 1953 he wrote a letter of congratulations to W. E. B. Du Bois.[2]

He led a delegation visiting the U.S.S.R. and wrote a report on the trip.[3]
