GUI Records was an Ohio-based independent record label that is responsible for many indie projects such as Furik, Razor Frank, and The Gruve. The label was announced and put together by Jordan Cable in 2004.

History

[edit]

The label was created in an effort to self-release Jordan's solo works and help promote local bands.

In early 2004, the record label was known as Furik Records but was renamed to Metalhead Records later on that year. The name didn't stay very long and was switched back to Furik Records until late 2005, when the label was permanently named GUI Records.

GUI Records was put on a hiatus in the fall of 2007. Jordan is planning a return for the label in the fall of 2009.

Name Meaning

[edit]

GUI has many meanings and is not to be confused with the computer term. In September of 2005, it was said to be an acronym for Global Under Infinity however the label said any meaning is welcome to their own enjoyment such as said Girls Use Ice, Guitars Use Intelligence and God Uses Insomnia.
