History

[edit]

GIGL was founded by Hemant Pant, who transitioned from a government career to entrepreneurship. With a background in Electrical Engineering, Pant completed his Master’s in Instrumentation Engineering and served as an S.D.O in the state electricity department of Himachal Pradesh for five years. During his tenure as a Class 1 Gazetted Officer, he began creating educational videos on YouTube in his spare time.[2]

In 2019, after his wife Jyoti Thakur completed her PhD in Instrumentation Engineering from NIT Jalandhar, the couple decided to relocate to Bangalore with their 3-month-old son. Pant left his government job to focus on creating educational content. GIGL was incubated by NASSCOM’s 10k Startups program in Bangalore, which helped the platform expand its reach and capabilities. Initially gaining traction through its YouTube channel, GIGL soon diversified its offerings to include a mobile app and website, providing a range of courses on communication skills, financial management, and personal growth.
