Fundamental Paper Education (abbreviated as FPE) is an animated web series created by Kaaatie[1] on March 1, 2024 with 71 millions views.[2] The animated series is based on school paper, and the teachers teach the students. However, there is a caveat: if the students make even a single mistake (either by getting a low enough score, littering, misbehaving, or even talking while class is in session, etc.....) they are punished disproportionately, often to the extent that they are graphically killed.

On November 24, 2024, Kaaatie has unlisted the video because she does not want it to be more popular.

Characters

[edit]
Teachers[3][4]

Teachers

[edit]
  • Miss Circle is a major character who first appears in the episode Basics in Behavior. She is a math teacher at Paper School whose main job is to kill students who fail or misbehave in class with an enourmous compass replacing her left arm. She can be regarded as Fundamental Paper Education's best-known character, having appeared not only in dozens of fan-made comics, but also fan videos and—perhaps most infamously—even having pornographic (or sexually suggestive) fan art and video.
  • Miss Bloomie is a science teacher character who appeared in the short, She is one of the three main teachers at Paper School, the other two being Miss Circle and Miss Thavel. Miss Bloomie looks guilty for doing such murderous things, as she doesn't want to get arrested for murdering misbehaving students, unlike Miss Circle, who appears almost gleeful when murdering Abbie.
  • Miss Thavel is a language teacher who appeared in the first episode. Miss Thavel has pale white skin with large black claw-like hands. She appears to have black shoulder-length spiky hair, with a swirly ahoge atop her head. She has three letter blocks labeled by alphabetical order along her head, accessorized with feathers on the sides.
  • Mister Demi is a music teacher, Mister Demi's hair is white and sits just above his shoulders. Two pencils are atop of his head, along with two small horns, green rectangular pupils, and black rectangular glasses. His arms are striped black and white with his hands being completely black. Additionally, his left bang resembles a keyboard.

Students

[edit]
Picture of Fundamental Paper Education Characters (Students)[5][6][7][8]
  • Abbie is a student in the first episode. He failed the exam and he got an F+, He was known as the student who failed his test, and was the first to be killed in the Basics in Behavior animated short. He had shoulder-length black hair topped with a leaf and wore a white-collared short-sleeved shirt covered with a black vest with a tucked in tie. He wore white shorts. For footwear, he had white socks and shoes. Despite the feminine name, Abbie is a male.
  • Biscuit is another student, one of few who is either lucky enough to stay unnoticed from the other teachers or simply keeps doing his assignments well enough. He wears, according to his Fandom entry, "a blue bandanna that is tied around his neck, a white undershirt, and brown overalls with two gray buttons and a large front pocket".
    • Biscuit has three different outfits, one being the above mentioned so called "standard" outfit, a snow version (a green and orange scarf instead of his usual bandana), and a third debut appearance (completely naked, save for his scarf)
  • Bubble is another student. She has hair that resemble soap bubbles, hence her name. Beside her eyes (which are blue-colored with star-shaped pupils), she has no other facial features. She has a "white T-shirt, accompanied by a black overall dress with a large pocket. She also has a black wristband on her left sleeve, and her attire is finished with white socks and black shoes". In addition, a fluffy white tail is present, and her hair is accesorized with a toothbrush and a rubber duck.
  • Claire is yet another student. She was killed by way of total body disruption caused by Alice's demonic self during the "Basics in Behavior" short. A simple bob cut acts as her hair style, and wore a simple white shirt with a pair of buttons at the center. She wore white shorts, just like Abbie, and had ankle-length white socks and black shoes.
    • In some pieces of official artwork by Kaaatie, she looked quite different. Retaining her bob cut, her hair is auburn-colored instead of white, and her long-sleeved shirt remains the same, but is now covered by a blue jacket. Other differences include a black necklace with a miniature sprout in some dirt enclosed within a tiny glass bottle; a bowtie; a hairclip in the style of MoeMoe, a minor character; brown shorts with pockets instead of white shorts; green and white striped socks instead of pure white ones, and finally her shoes are red with white accents instead of completely black shoes
    • In more official artwork - this time depicting Claire in a snowy forest - much of her actually remains unchanged but Claire now has a green beanie with white hems, and her necklace is now absent.
  • Cubbie is an anthropomorphic black cat who, just like Biscuit and Bubble, was lucky enough to escape from the teachers or is simply doing his tasks well enough. Having a manual pencil sharpener for a torso, his tail resembles a pencil shaving, and, as he has no neck, his head floats on an opened book.
  • Edward is a minor antagonist featured in the series. He has spiky hair with a pair of short horns alongside a pair of black glasses he wears on the top of his head. Much of his features are black, such as the entirety of his arms, his pointed tail, and part of his shirt; the lower half is white. He wears big black boots. He was partially responsible for Claire nearly dying midway through in "Basics in Behavior"; he was reportedly piloting an unmanned vehicle that carried her into a pit within the library, where she escaped but ended up confronted by Miss Circle.
  • Engel is again, another student. He has "white messy hair" made into a ponytail topped with a pair of blue and reddish-orange feathers on the right side of his head. He wears a white collared shirt, accessorized with black overalls and a pair of stripes, one blue, one red, on his left sleeve. For footwear, he has "blue and red striped leg warmers and black shoes with small heels". His arms are black, just like many other characters in the series, and has four spiky fingers and what seems to be a small pointed tail.
    • When Engel was a child, he had some differences. His messy hair is a reddish-orange shade and is tied to a noticably smaller ponytail. He wears a "dark orange tyrolean hat on his head, with two feathers on it, one being blue, the other being reddish-orange" similar to what we see of Engel today. He actually retains some of his adult self's characteristics, the most obvious being his white collared shirt and overalls.
  • Kevin -
  • Lana was another student. She wore a grey-collared T-shirt, with another "long-sleeved black shirt underneath it". She also wore dark grey pants with black hemps, with both of them having a couple stitches around her knee and hip dips. Like some other characters, she had black shoes. She is notably the only character from the series to come with sock puppets. Her Fandom entry notes that she was killed when Abbie, one of her classmates was killed during "Basics in Behavior" and wound up being decapitated and her eyes put out by pencils by Miss Circle.
  • Lizzy -
  • Minor Characters - There are many minor characters in the series. Examples include, but are not limited to: Nerd Snake; a snake with a black hat, top and glasses and a bowtie as well as buck teeth, a stick figure, the "Fox Boys" with "shoulder-length white hair with black-tipped ears, whiskers, and a tail similar to that of a fox", and Cat Boy, a student with cat-like features similar to Cubbie and wears "a black collared T-shirt, with white pants". His arms are striped, "and his feet are pointed".

Antagonists

[edit]

So far, there have only been two true antagonists in the series, excluding the teachers.

  • Alice (stylized as Δlice with the A replaced by the Greek letter delta) is a student who can quickly change between her paper self and her real self: a demon. Wearing a lightly torn navy blue long sleeved shirt with a pair of white buttons, she has "short brown messy hair and tan skin with a pointed ahoge atop her head, a white princess tiara, and a black bow on the left side of her head". She also "wears a black necklace with a bronze triangle crossed through by two lines on it. Her attire is finished with a long black skirt with white designs on the end, accompanied by white socks and black shoes. She appears to have a reddish scar on each leg".
    • When Alice is partially transformed, much of her remains the same, but parts of her true self is revealed. Her clothes are much more torn apart, compared to the small tears on her shirt, and a brown patch with a rhombus or diamond shape appears on her right sleeve. Bandages appear on both her sleeves, and her bow is now moved to the right side of her head. Her white tiara changes to a black crown, and a bang appears on the top of her head (which covers one of her eyes, leaving only the other visible) as well as a strange reddish scar to the right of her face. Six small spikes appear on her backside, one of which is covered in a bandage. Three cuts and scars appear on her left leg, and a black chain, possibly a necklace, appears on her neck. More rhombus symbols, as well as some stitches appear on her skirt. "As seen in a few artworks, she also has a bandage wrapped around her chest".
    • As Alice's true demonic self is shown at the end of "Basics in Behaviour" we see her transform into what she really is. The six spikes on her back are now far more pronounced, and she completely changes color into a pitch black-like state, with her eyes accentuated with bright red sclera and snake-like black slit puplis. Additionally, a long black tail is now visible. In official artwork by Kaaatie, she is shown as being taller than Oliver and Edward.
  • Aiden (stylized as Δiden in much the same way as Alice's name) is an upcoming character in the series. Currently featured in official artwork only, she is yet to be seen in Fundamental Paper Education. Her most prominent feature is her ushanka, a hat frequently seen in Russia and much of Eastern Europe. She wears "a navy lightish-dark grey blue-like colored army coat with only one button closed, accompanied by a white undershirt, accessorized by a dark green and orange scarf". She also wears black fingerless gloves. Beneath her ushanka, she has long black hair. She also wears a pair of jeans tied with a belt. Her ushanka has a delta symbol: a triangle with one line thicker than the rest.

Summary

[edit]

Fundamental Paper Education (so named because almost everything shown in the series is made of paper), tells the story of several students who must either escape the Paper School unscathed or simply do the daily tasks given to them by the teachers, or else die trying to do either. Created by an anonymous animator known only as Kaaatie,[1] the series consists of several small animated shorts of varying length; Basics in Behavior is the longest of them all. Serving as a music video of the song of the same name[9] by Israeli/American music duo The Living Tombstone.

Acting as the primary setting of Basics in Behavior, the Paper School is, as it's called, a school made almost entirely of paper, just like its students. However, by the time Alice, one of the series' antagonists, has been released, it transforms into a more colorful place with additional three-dimensional effects. It consists of multiple classrooms, each with their own teacher, an ordinary-looking cafeteria, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a library with a large pit at the center and, perhaps most famously, Alice's very own room, which consists of an almost-empty void with red dots floating around, a red glow, and black, almost invisible spikes which appear on both the floor and the ceiling. At one point, Claire was tricked into entering the room by way of an exit sign placed by Oliver and Zip over a sign at the door that was intended to warn others of Alice's presence there, leading to Claire's death.
