Frank Mackay
[edit](January 18, 1967 - Present) A dynamic American businessman, captivating entertainer, resonating media personality, and political icon have all found a singular embodiment. A figurehead in public relations who has etched his own incredible mark on the canvas of a legacy spanning a career of over 40 years in a multitude of diverse fields of work.
Early Life and Career
[edit]MacKay’s journey in the entertainment industry launched in 1985 when, at the age of 18, with the release of his first music publication, “Network”. The publication quickly gained popularity amongst music business insiders, musicians, and their fans. Over the next decade, MacKay built a significant following in the music industry as a band and club promoter. By the age of 25, he had launched three nightclubs on Long Island, NY, known as Dr. Shay’s, as well as managing entertainers such as Criss Angel and C. J. Ramone.
Political Career
[edit]The spark of MacKay's political journey ignited in 1992, as MacKay became active in Ross Perot's 1996 third party presidential run. An avid scholar of politics, he aided club-goers to register to vote by the thousands early in his career in entertainment. In 1995, he became a key organizer in the Independence Party and active in third party politics. By the year 2000, at the age of 32, MacKay became the youngest State Chairman of a political party in New York State history, serving as the Independence Party Chair for 20 years. In 2007, he was elected the national Chairman of the Independence Party (United States) and also served as the Reform Party of the United States of America Chair simultaneously beginning in 2008. At the end of his term as a figure head of his political party Mackay was appointed the Suffolk County Public Administrator in 2023 pivoting from the national stage and applying his years of political experience to better serve his childhood community.
Personal Life
[edit]MacKay resides in Rocky Point New York with his wife and four children. He served as a Member of the Board of Governors for the Touro Law Center and holds a master’s degree from SUNY, Stony Brook. In 2008, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Five Towns College for his accomplishments in business and entertainment. MacKay is also the author of eight books.
MacKay is a collector of experiences. He has recently visited his 100th country. He has been to all 50 United States and 6 continents. Soon after the war broke out in Ukraine, the syndicated radio host spent 15 days in the region, including a total of 5 days in war-torn Ukraine. As part of his political work, he has met 7 US presidents and countless other world leaders.
His success in entertainment and politics has been widely reported. MacKay has appeared in hundreds of national, state, and local publications and has developed a niche audience among young political activists.
Career in Broadcast and Entertainment
[edit]The only thing Frank Mackay is better known for than his career in politics is as a broadcaster. In December 2013 Mackay launched and hosted "Breaking it Down with Frank Mackay", on JVC Broadcastings 103.9 LI News Radio. Still airing in present 2024 "Breaking it Down with Frank Mackay" newly named "The Frank Mackay Show" has had over 1,000 episodes of featuring top celebrities, pro athletes, leading politicians, and many more. During his run on LI News Radio Frank MacKay has received numerous awards from the Long Island Press Club. His television show, Turning Point with Frank MacKay, launched on NBC Nonstop and earned him several awards. His radio show of the same name aired on dozens of outlets, including WCBS, in several major markets.
On May 10, 2022, Frank MacKay stepped into the role of president at 77 WABC Radio/WLIR 107.1 FM. His appointment came under the ownership of John Catsimatidis, the chairman and CEO of Red Apple Media. MacKay’s impressive career spans both media and politics, making him a valuable asset to the Long Island Division of 77 WABC Radio.
