History
[edit]Beginnings - 2022
[edit]Flight Attendant was formed in 2018 by Vinny Maniscalco and Karalyne Winegarner while jamming with two other friends. Quickly, Nikki and Derek joined the band as permanent members.[1]
Crafting their sound along the way, the band put out numerous singles until they were approached by grammy-award winning Producer/Engineer, Charles Yingling, at show in Nashville. Yingling took the band back to the Blue Room recording studio in Berry Hill at Moraine Music Group. Recording commenced in the fall of 2019. The recording process was then abruptly interrupted by the Nashville Tornado of 2020 and then a few weeks later Nashville, and the country, had shut down due to COVID-19. Having the recorded a little more than half of the album and the sudden halt from the pandemic, the album decided to put out singles, "Man of Chaos", and "Comedy Show" in June 2020 and October 2020, respectively. Both singles received airplay on local rock and indie stations, 102.9 The Buzz and Lightning 100, with praise.[2]
Debut Album, European tour
[edit]Flight Attendant continued to release singles in 2023 such as "Paradise", "dogs", "Crybaby" and "Honeysweet"[3] before releasing their debut album. Flight Attendant put out their Self-titled album on September 30, 2022 with Moraine Music Group. The group set out on tour to Europe soon after, due to exposure they had received on radio, MTV Germany, and ROLA music.[4] Flight Attendant played shows across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Czech Republic.[5]
2023-Present
[edit]Flight Attendant kicked off their 2023 year with two new singles from producer, Anders Fleming, “Therapy Couch” and “Second Chances”.[6] They toured throughout the year to promote their growing catalogue starting with a West Coast tour in June 2023 from Los Angeles to Seattle. The band then followed up their European tour from the previous year and headed back, spending the month of October heavily touring Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
Flight Attendant played their first sold out show at Cannery Hall at the end of February opening up for the Foxies. In the spring of 2024, Flight Attendant toured the northeast, selling out their first headline show in Cambridge, MA at the Middle East Restaurant & Night Club. In June, the band then played their first festival at Boulevardia[7] in Kansas City.
