First Response Group (FRG), formally First Response Guarding LTD, is a British security guard and multiservice company. First Response Group provides security, access control, property risk management, CCTV, and site logistic services.[1]

History
[edit]The company was founded and incorporated in May 2007 as a Private Limited Company by principal founder Jamal Tahlil and co-founder Edgar Chibaka.[1][5] The company is based in Leeds, United Kingdom with eight regional office locations and employs over 1,200 individuals.[6]
- In 2018, the First Response Group acquired the now-dissolved Robinsons M&E, a Private Limited Company that specialized in the delivery of electrical, air conditioning, and commercial boiler installation.[7]
- In September 2018, it acquired Apardion Limited, a Private Limited Company based in Aberdeen, Scotland that provides multi-service and security assistance.[8]
- In 2021, FRG coordinated and implemented security services for the COVID-19 Oxford Vaccine Trial[9] conducted by the University of Oxford.[10]
- In 2023, the First Response Group acquired the Wembly-based Integrated Security Consultants, also branded ISC, which specializes in security and consultative services.[11][12]
- In May 2024, FRG signed a three-year security guarding contract with English Heritage, a charity responsible for over 400 historic English sites.[13][14]
Charity
[edit]In January 2021, First Response Group began supporting Education for Africa, sponsoring a feeding programme initiative for the Isiolo Children’s Home in Kenya for local orphans and at-risk children. Company members completed the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the charity.[15][16]

[edit]Jamal Thalil was born in the East African country, Somalia.[6] He joined the board of directors of Robinsons MEA, Rocool, and Apardion in 2018. In August 2019 he became a member of the board of directors of Gemini Rail Services Limited, a private transport repair and alternation business based in Wolverton, England. In February 2021, alongside co-fouunder Edgar Chibaka, he was named Black British Businesspeople of the Year by the Black British Business Awards (BBBA).[17][18][19]
Edgar Chibaka
[edit]Edgar Chibaka was born in Rumphi, Malawi. In 2020 he was elected to serve on the executive board the Malawi-UK Business Group as chairman.[20] He is the Managing Director of Robinsons MEA Limited, a company based in Harrogate, England, that specializes in electrical, heat, air-conditioning, and plumbing installation among other support services.[21][22]
Simon Alderson
[edit]Simon Alderson was appointed CEO of FRG in February 2018.[23] He previously served as the UK commercial director of VPS Holdings Limited. He was elected chairman of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) in 2013.[23][24]
Awards
[edit]- In June 2021, FRG received the Recognised Service Provider Award from the Living Wage Foundation.[25]
- In 2022, the company was awarded the Security Guarding Company of the Year award at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards.[26][27]
- In December 2023, FRG was named the Contract Security Team of the Year & received the Outsourced Security Manager of the Year awards at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards for security services the company provides to the Wembley National Stadium.[28]
- In February 2024, FRG was awarded the Outstanding Contract Security Company award from the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs).[29]
- In May 2024, FRG received the Entrepreneurial Business of the Year award at the Security and Safety Entrepreneur Awards (SSEAs).[30][31][32]
