The Expedition Secretary was historically the a title of some Swedish office-holders, especially within the Swedish departments.

History

The office of Expedition Secretary was created through the Order of the Chancery of 1720, and made the office the deputy of the State Secretary, within the given department. When the department's Bureau Organization was implemented in 1875, the Expedition Secretaries, became agency heads and rapporteurs in the Cabinet Preparations Office (Swedish: Statsrådsberedningen), of matters pertaining to each agency, with responsibility for the dispatch of the decision. The office was abolished in 1878 and replaced with the office of Chancery Council.
