Elson M. Haas, MD (born August 14, 1947) is an American integrative family physician with more than 50 years of experience.[1] Since 1984, he has practiced within an insurance model at the Preventive Medical Center of Marin in San Rafael, CA. He is also the author of 11 health books, including Staying Healthy with the Seasons and Staying Healthy with Nutrition. [2][3]
Early Life and education
[edit]Dr. Haas was born on August 14, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan. He pursued his early education at MacDowell Elementary School and Mumford High School in Detroit and Ann Arbor from years 1953 to 1965. He continued his academic journey at the University of Michigan, completing his undergraduate studies from 1965 to 1968, followed by obtaining his Medical Degree from the same institution between 1968 and 1972.[4]
From 1973 onward, he gained specialized education in multidisciplinary and integrative family medicine, covering Western medicine, nutritional medicine, fasting and detoxification therapy, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, body therapies, stress management, and guided imagery. [4]
Career
[edit]Dr. Haas has dedicated now five decades to private practice patient care since 1973. His early career included an internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland, CA[5], from 1972 to 1973, as a physician consultant for various clinics affiliated with the City of Berkeley and the Alameda County Health Care Agencies from 1973 to 1976.[5] Dr. Haas further experience as a country doctor in Bolinas, CA, from 1975 to 1980 and through a home-based office in Fairfax, CA, from 1980 to 1983. Between 1982 and 2004, he served as a medical & health consultant in San Jose, CA. [5][4]
In 1984, Dr. Haas founded the Preventive Medical Center of Marin, Inc. in San Rafael, CA, where he is the founder and medical director. [1][5]
Dr. Haas's as an author has 11 books, from Staying Healthy with the Seasons to Staying Healthy with Nutrition, The Detox Diet, The False Fat Diet, and Ultimate Immunity. His latest publication, Staying Healthy with NEW Medicine, is based on advancing integrative healthcare practices.[2]
