Ella Dolbear Lee (July 4, 1866 – June 15, 1954) was an American artist, illustrator, and children's book author, best known for her Ella Dolbear Lee Mother Goose Book (1918).
Ella M. Dolbear was born on July 4, 1866 in Marysville, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel Dolbear and Elizabeth Baker Dolbear. She graduated from Marysville High School and studied art at Tufts College and the New England Conservatory.[1][2]
As a teenager she sculpted a bust of Ohio Governor J. B. Foraker out of butter which was displayed at the 1888 Cincinnati Centennial Exposition.[3]
She wrote two series of children's books, the "Blue Domers"
