Eli Whitney Sorrell Jr. was an educator in Louisiana. He served on Southern University's board.
He was the first principal of Walter L. Cohen High School, named for Walter L. Cohen, and opened in a former elementary school for whites after a court battle and public struggle.[1] He was photographed.[2]
He served on the Executive Council of the Louisiana Colored Teachers' Journal (LCTJ) in 1948.
Eli Whitney Sr. was a delegate to the 1888 Republican National Convention[3] and served as a customs official.[4]
He had brothers and sisters.[5]
He had taught at an elementary school.[6]
