Dylan Reiss Mitchell (born 1 October 2005) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL League Two club Swindon Town.[4][5]

Career

[edit]

Born in Birmingham, Mitchell came through the Aston Villa academy, joining at under-13 level [4][6] He signed a scholarship deal with Aston Villa in July 2022, whilst aged 16.[7]

On 23 December 2023, Mitchell was loaned out to Southern League Premier Division Central side Alvechurch on a youth loan deal,[8] and in February 2024, the loan deal was extended until the end of the season.[9] After making 25 appearances for The Church, Mitchell returned to parent club, Aston Villa.[10] On 9 June 2024, after 12 years at Villa Park, Mitchell was released following the conclusion of his contract, along with seven other academy players.[11][12]

On 10 July 2024, Mitchell signed for League Two side Swindon Town on a contract of an undisclosed length,[4][13] and on 13 August, he made his professional debut for The Robins in a 4–2 loss against Crawley Town in round one of the EFL Cup; he came on as a 71st–minute substitute for Joel Cotterill.[14][15] His league came four days later, as Mitchell came on as an 85th–minute substitute for Ollie Clarke, in a 4–0 home defeat against Walsall.[16] [17]
