Donald Lyon Bentley (born April 25, 1935) is an American mathematician.[1] He was the Lingurn H. Burkhead Professor of Mathematics at Pomona College in Claremont, California, where he taught from 1964 to 2001.[1][2] He is known for his role in creating the college's tradition of revering the number 47.[2]
