Draft:Dominic Murray
Submission declined on 19 December 2024 by Ca (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere, unless it explicitly and verifiably has been released to the world under a suitably free and compatible copyright license or into the public domain and is written in an acceptable tone—this includes material that you own the copyright to. You should attribute the content of a draft to outside sources, using citations, but copying and pasting or closely paraphrasing sources is not acceptable. The entire draft should be written using your own words and structure. Education | Farmingdale State College |
Dominic A. Murray was a student and basketball player at Farmingdale State College who collapsed and died during a basketball game due to sudden cardiac arrest on October 5th, 2009.[1] This was caused by a congenital heart defect that wasn't recognized until it was too late.[1] He died at the age of 17, having only spent 7 weeks in college.[2] Those who surrounded him at the time of his death did not recognize the signs of cardiac arrest, leaving them unable to help him. Dominic collapsed during the game and was said to be experiencing seizure like symptoms, such as gasping, gurgling, and seizure-like motions. His death brought changes to New York State law, resulting in the New York State Senate establishing the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act,[3] which aims to prevent the events that happened to Dominic from happening to others.
