Docka Records is an independent electronic music record label based in San Diego, California. The label was founded in September 2014 by veteran DJ and producers, DJ IDeaL & J-Break and specializes in various forms of electronic music, specifically House, Tech House and Breakbeat. Docka Records caters to dance music fans who are seeking a mix of laid back & uptempo music for the dance floor.

DJ IDeaL & J-Break got the idea to create a label in 2014 while producing remixes for Billboard.[1] The duo had originally come from different musical backgrounds of genres with DJ IDeaL producing house music[2] and J-Break producing breakbeat.[3]

The duo wanted to create a new alias to produce all genres of dance music while staying anonymous, letting the music speak for itself. It wasn't until several years later that they were discovered as the ghostwriters of Docka, and DJ IDeaL came clean on an interview with Rave Train in 2017.[4]

The Docka character was created to be the figurehead as an alien from outer space that crash lands on Earth and is trying to make its way back home, while simultaneously attempting to save Earth from bad music and his arch nemesis, Wocka.[5] The first artists to release music on Docka Records were Snoop Dogg, Afroman, Donald Glaude, and Docka.[6]

The Docka logo was originally a variation of the Creeper from the video game Mindcraft, but was changed to the new 8-bit smiley face design in 2018. Since the establishment of the label, DJ IDeaL & J-Break began picking different writers for every release to create a new chapter in the Docka story for the label.

The first release on Docka was the Moonboots EP by Docka.[7] Docka Records first debut on the Billboard Dance Charts occured in 2016 with Docka feat. Snoop Dogg "Let Me Hit It",[8] as well as appearances on the Beatport Electro House charts at #7, and #5 on the Trap charts. Later that year, the imprint had their second Billboard appearance at #47 on the Dance Club charts with Zachary Zamarripa's "The One",[9] and #31 on Beatport's Top 100, #8 House, & #16 Techno charts. The Atom Pushers & 5YNK remix of "The One" catapulted the release back to #29 on the Billboard Dance Club charts over two years later.[10] In 2018, DJ IDeaL teamed up with DJ/vocalist, Lady Verse, for "Keeper".[11] The tech house track peaked at #52 on the Billboard Dance Club charts,[12] and #1 on both the Beatport Breaks & House charts. In 2024, the remix EP of J-Break ft. T-Pain - "Down For Some Freakin'" topped the Beatport Release charts in 4 different genres: #6 in Trap, #10 in Mainstage, #19 in Breaks, #77 in Melodic House & Techno, as well as #89 in the Trap singles charts by Prodbyiniesta x Martinnz.[13]

The label has also been producing mainstream and underground events across Southern California, New York, Mexico, and annually at the Winter Music Conference & Miami Music Week, in collaboration with DTLA (Deep Tech Los Angeles) Records.[14] DJ IDeaL picks all the music as head A&R and is well known for breaking new artists, as he frequently signs music by unknown producers and remixers.

Docka Records releases have been supported by international renown artists and DJs such as Fedde Le Grand,[15] Bob Sinclair,[16] Luciana,[17] Kryder,[18] and Bolier for DJ Mag.[19]
