On October 19, 2023, American Nancy Ng mysteriously disappeared while kayaking on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, after taking part in a yoga retreat. The case gained attention after her fellow kayakers did not immediately contact authorities to report her as missing and left the country earlier than expected.[1] She is believed to have drowned after going swimming, although a search of the lake and surroundings have not resulted in finding her.[2]

Background

[edit]

The 29-year old Ng is from Monterey Park, California and worked as a teaching assistant for Alhambra Unified School District.[3]

Events

[edit]

A member of the retreat, Christina Blazek, a public defender for San Bernardino County, was believed to be the last one to have seen Ng alive.[4]
