She developed her own entrepreneurial spirit, and in her early teens, she would look for bargains at a local flea market, and re-sell the items to her peers at school.[2]

Personal life and family

In 2003,[1] Kander married her high school sweetheart, former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander. They share a son, True and a daughter Bella.[5]

As the spouse of a veteran living with PTSD, Kander is an advocate for people affected by secondary trauma.[6] [7]

Career

[edit]

After graduating, Kander worked for a law firm[5] with projects focusing on real estate, tax and corporate law.[8] In 2007, Kander returned to her entrepreneurial roots. Over the next decade, she became an equity owner of nine companies in a variety of industries including the companies National Law Review and KR Legal Management, both of which she founded.[8][9] In 2012, she joined the Kauffman Foundation,[2] focusing on evidence-based entrepreneurship.  From 2014-2016, Kander taught courses for the MBA program at the University of Missouri.[2] Today, Kander is an author and keynote speaker, working with businesses to develop curiosity and innovation.[8]
