Davenport Junior Theatre is a children's theatre in Davenport, Iowa. Founded by Mary Fluhrer Nighswander in 1951,[1] the theatre offers affordable acting and dance classes and camps for youth ages 3-18 and has produced over 70 seasons of mainstage productions. As of 2024, the program serves over 2,000 youth annually.[2] Davenport Junior Theatre is funded and administered by the City of Davenport as part of its parks and recreation department.[3]

After drifting between over a dozen different temporary locations, it found a permanent home at the Annie Wittenmyer Center in 1977, over 20 years after its founding.[2] The theatre is slated to move to NorthPark Mall in July 2025 following a Davenport City Council vote to develop the Annie Wittenmyer Center into affordable housing.[4] This has left the program's future uncertain, and some local residents and program alumni have voiced criticism of the decision.[2][5]
