Darkest Americans is a two-act show by the Tutt brothers who staged and starred in it in 1918 and 1919. The show depicts the performers as Howard University students searching the world for a missing anthropology professor from the school.[1]
In one scene, Egyptian mummies emerge from their sarcophaguses and perform a dance.[2] Luckey Roberts contributed to the show’s score.[3]
Darkest America was a late 19th century musical show staged by Al G. Fields and Oliver Scott.[1] In 1918, The Crisis billed itself as “A Record of the Darker Races”.[4]
The show was to be succeeded the following season by the Tutt brothers’ show Children of the Sun.[5]
