Cross Impact is an indie crossover fighting video game developed by Larsonsoft. After being successfully funded via Kickstarter in May 2023, it entered Early Access via Steam for Windows on December 29, 2023, followed by a release for macOS on February 9, 2024. The game supports up to 8-player simultaneous multiplayer, offering both local and online play with rollback netcode. The game features a roster of 7 playable characters from various indie franchises including Hotline Miami (2012), YIIK: A Postmodern RPG (2019), Ultrakill (2020), and more.
Gameplay
[edit]Cross Impact is a platform fighter where up to eight players[1] engage in intense battles across various stages, utilizing platforms to their advantage. The objective is to defeat opponents by either depleting their health or knocking them off the screen. As characters engage in combat, a meter builds up, allowing players to utilize percentages of it for various strategic maneuvers, such as calling upon assists, canceling special attacks, or unleashing ultimate "Cross Attacks."[2]
In addition to its core gameplay, Cross Impact offers a traditional Arcade Mode and Volleyball Mode. In Arcade Mode, players can challenge a series of computer-controlled opponents, while Volleyball Mode introduces a unique twist where combatants, instead of fighting, engage in a game of volleyball.
