The coat of arms of Fredericton is the heraldic symbol representing the city of Fredericton.
The coat of arms were adopted in 1848. Dr. James Robb who designed them, is also credited to have created the city's motto featured in the coat of arms : Fredericopolis Silvæ Filia Nobilis.[1]

[edit]The coat of arms were adopted in 1848. Dr. James Robb who designed them, is also credited to have created the city's motto featured in the coat of arms : Fredericopolis Silvæ Filia Nobilis which is a latin phrase meaning "Fredericton noble daughter of the forest".[2]
The College of Arms granted Letters Patent to the City of Fredericton to officially use the coat of arms in June 1971. Working with the Canadian Heraldry Authority, digital versions of the coat of arms were created in 2002 (black & white) and in 2006 (colour). [1]
Symbolism
[edit]The coat of arms features a cross which hints to Fredericton’s status as a Cathedral City; the Union and Royal Arms, surmounted by the Royal Crown; and a fir tree representing the forests from which the Capital and province were carved. [1]

Argent three shields those in chief ensigned by the Royal Crown proper the dexter of the Union the sinister of the Royal Arms that in base Azure a fir tree on a mount in base proper and on the Argent in chief point a Latin cross irradiated proper; [2]
