Brockworth's Church of St George[1] is an Anglican[2] parish church of the Church of England[2] on the northern side of the village next to Brockworth Court. It became a Grade I[3] listed building in in January 1955
History
[edit]Built by Roger de Chandos, the Lord of the Manor and first Norman resident.[4] It was consecrated in 1142, becoming one of the earliest English churches to be dedicated to St George.
Rebuilt in the 14th century.[3]
In 1845 costing were made to repair the church.[5] About 1846-1847, the church was renovated at a cost of around £800.[4]
Archaeological evaluation occurred in 2009.[6]

[edit]Prior to the restoration in 1846-8, the original church was built a Norman architecture romanesque[13] structure.
