Christian Zenger (born 18. November 1985 in Dormagen) is a co-founder and CEO of PHYSEC GmbH[1], a company that specializes in cyber-physical security solutions for IoT-based applications. He is also a lecturer for the Wireless Physical-Layer Security course at the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology department at Ruhr University Bochum.

Life

Prof. Dr. Christian Zenger received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and his Master of Science double degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a focus on Communication Systems and Networks from Technische Hochschule Köln and Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. He then pursued his German engineering doctorate in Physical-Layer Security from Ruhr University Bochum with his Ph.D. thesis on "Physical-Layer Security for Internet of Things" in 2017, under the guidance of Prof. Dr.-Ing Christof Paar as his doctoral father and with Prof. Dr. Holger Boche as the secondary referee.[2]

Before becoming a lecturer for Wireless Physical-Layer Security, Christian Zenger worked as a Junior Professor at the Division of Digital Communication Systems of the Department of Electrical Engineering & Information Technology (ETIT) at the same university.[3] From 2015 to 2019, he was a board member of the research department of the Ruhr University Bochum. The department was founded in 2002 to address shortcomings in IT security research in Europe.

In addition to his role as a CEO of PHYSEC GmbH and lecturer at Ruhr University Bochum, Christian Zenger is also a member of the scientific and technical advisory board at incubator Cube 5[4] and a board member of "Kompetenzzentrum Digitale Wasserwirtschaft"[5].
