Chris Cashman (born February 25, 1975) is an American filmmaker.

Early life

[edit]

Cashman was born in San Diego, California, son of Patricia Devine and Paul Cashman. He got his start in filmmaking when he was 15, producing videos for the "Morning Announcements" at St. Augustine High School.[1] Cashman went on to study Film, Theater, and Communication Arts at Villanova University.[2][3]

Career

[edit]

After graduating from Villanova University, Cashman worked as Will Ferrell's stunt double and photo double on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Kicking & Screaming (2005), and Stranger Than Fiction (2006).[4] This experience gave him the opportunity to make his feature-length directorial debut, Carts (2007).[5] Cashman has also produced the films Thane of East County (2015) and To Hell and Gone (2019), and served as director and producer on the short films Undocumented (2016) and Leave 'Em Laughing (2020), the latter of which centered on Dick Shawn's final standup performance.[1][6]

In addition to narrative features, Cashman has also produced several documentaries. Some of his documentary work includes Club Frontera (2016) and Xolos: Tijuana's Team (2018), both of which focus on the Mexican professional football club Xolos.[7][8]
