The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade is a membership organisation for professionals and organisations involved in exporting and international trade.

First established in 1935 as the Institute of Export, the registered charity.rebranded in November 2017 to become the Institute of Export and International Trade. The institute was granted the Royal Charter in December 2023 and became The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade in July 2024. the Institute is a registered charity.[1] [2]

The Institute was formed in 1935 and was granted its Royal Charter in 2023.[1] [5]

Membership

The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade offer various memberships for Professionals, Businesses or Suppliers. Membership allows members to be a part of our thriving network of like-minded global trade professionals where you can share your knowledge, build upon your expertise, and meet and connect with peers, prospects and industry leaders. Membership gives exclusive access to Insights and courses which are not available to non-members.

Professional Membership

Professional membership is broken down into 6 categories, each awarding its own suffix and benefits.[6]

  • Student Member
    • Student Membership is designed for those who are studying towards a qualification with the institute. This membership provides access to resources, guides, templates and support to complement the qualification. It also allows access to insights and connection with the international trade community.
  • Affiliate Member
    • Affiliate Membership is designed for those new to International Trade and have less than 3 years experience. It allows access to lunch time courses, insights and connection to the international trade community.
  • Associate Member [AMCIEx]
    • Associate Members are those who have more than 3 years experience in International Trade and are recognised by the suffix AMCIEx. This membership allows access to courses, insights and connection to the international community.
  • Full Member [MCIEx]
    • Full Members are those who have more than 5 years experience in International Trade or have achieved a Level 5 accredited qualification in the International Trade Field. The suffix MCIEx is awarded to allow members to showcase their expereience to the institutes community of importers, exports and professionals across the supply chain.
  • Fellow Member [FCIEx]
    • Fellow Members are those who have demonstrated exceptional expertise to their peers and industry leaders by joining, contributing to and connecting with community. Fellow Members are recognised by the suffix FCIEx.
  • Retired Member

Business Membership

Businesses can apply for membership which unlocks access to numerous benefits on offer with the Institute such as Discounts on training, Representation to government and other policy makers, International Trade Technical Helpline and Access to online resources including Daily Update bulletin.[6]

Supplier Membership

Suppliers looking to help members continually look for ways to streamline their operations, build their connections, and stay ahead of the competition can apply for membership. Suppliers can pick from Bronze, Silver or Gold packages giving benefits such as Preferential rates on marketing and promotional opportunities, Sponsorship opportunities and One month block advert in the Daily Update e-bulletin to reach 7,000+ qualified international traders each day.
