Charles Osborne Furbush (1835–1916) was an American printer in Maine. He published various books and pamphlets as well as the Machias Republican newspaper.[1]

Furbush was born in Lebanon, Maine to Richard and Phebe Furbush.[2] In 1858 he married Julia Frences[3] and had a gaggle of children.[4]

In May 1853 he co-founded the Machias Union newspaper. He sold out his interest in the paper in 1859 and bought the Machias Republican established by Stacy Fowler.[5] He continued with it until his retirement when William B. Nash took over in 1900.[6][5][7]

The Union was a Democratic Party paper published in Machias on Tuesdays and the Republican Party affiliated Republican was printed on Saturdays.[8]

In 1885, he became a member of the Maine Press Association.[9]

In 1921 it was one of several printers on Exchange Street in Bangor.[10] In 1922, Elmer E. Roberts joined the company from the Bangor Daily News.[11]

Furbush Printing Company published The Northern magazine.[12]

Charles E. Roberts also worked for the company and announced an interruption in his service while with the U.S. military.[13]
