Cantref Bychan ('The Little Cantref') was a cantref in South-west Wales in the Middle Ages. It made up the lordship of Ystrad Tywi along with Cantref Mawr ('The Big Cantref').
The cantref acted as the stronghold of the princes of Deheubarth in their efforts to resist the Normans in South Wales. Its chief castles wewre Llanymddyfri in the north and Carreg Cennen Castle in the south.
The Princes of Deheubarth lost possession of the cantrefs in 1277 when they became a part of the newly formed Shire of Carmarthen.
