Camden Stewart (born Camden Luke Bonsu-Stewart; 6 June 2004), formerly known as camdenmusique, is a British pianist, composer, singer, and record producer.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Stewart was born on 6 June 2004 in London, England.[4]
2012–2022: Libera
[edit]In 2012, Stewart joined the Libera choir.[5] He performed as a soloist and ensemble member on tours and recordings, including a live concert at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., which aired as a PBS special in 2014.[6] In 2017, he was featured as a soloist on the track "Dreaming of Home" from Libera's album Hope.[7]
2017–2022: Guildhall School of Music and Drama
[edit]In 2017, Stewart enrolled at Junior Guildhall, where he studied classical voice and piano.[8] In 2021, he was the winner of the Junior Guildhall Voice Prize and became an alumnus of the Guildhall Young Artists Programme.[8][9] He later progressed to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as an undergraduate student, but left midway through his second year to pursue an independent music career.[10][11]
Career
[edit]2021–present: Public performances and online presence
[edit]In December 2021, Stewart began sharing piano covers to social media and performing on public pianos across London, initially suggested by his mother as preparation for his Grade 8 ABRSM Practical Piano exam.[9][12]
In June 2022, a duet with Stewart and pianist Karim Kamar at St Pancras Railway Station, performing Hans Zimmer's "Cornfield Chase" from Interstellar, went viral.[2]
In August 2022, Stewart was appointed Young Ambassador for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.[13]
In 2023, Stewart focused on original piano compositions, and in February 2024, a performance of his composition "Lost" at St Pancras went viral on TikTok, amassing over 25 million views.[14]
In November 2023, Stewart performed at the unveiling of the Burlington Arcade Christmas lights, hosted by Andrew Lloyd Webber.[15][16]
In December 2024, Stewart headlined his debut concert, Lost, at St Gabriel's Pimlico Church to a sold-out audience.[17][18][19]
