Draft:CNT

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) consists of a team of trained individuals who negotiate with a person or group of people who are actively involved in a criminal, violent, or mental health incident. The goal of the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is to work in an integrated fashion with other Crisis Management Teams to resolve hostage/barricade situations safely. The CNT uses crisis intervention techniques to accomplish this task.

The Crisis Negotiation Team Primary Functions:

  1. De-escalates potentially life-threatening situations using verbal crisis management techniques.
  2. Responds to incidents involving suicidal, armed/barricaded, emotionally disturbed, and hostage-holding individuals.
  3. Saves lives and mitigates crisis incidents while attempting to avoid unnecessary risk to officers, citizens, victims, and subjects.
