Byron Dale Williamson (born January 5, 1946) is an American religious book publisher, former president of Thomas Nelson-Word Publishing Group, and the founder of both Integrity Publishers and Worthy Publishing Group. Williamson is the former chair of the board of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA).[1][2]

Career

In 1983, Williamson founded the first iteration of Worthy Publishing, serving as president.[3][4][5] He developed the first Bible translation for children, the International Children's Bible (ICB) (ISBN 0834401339).[2] In 1988, Worthy Publishing was sold to Word, Inc., a CapCities/ABC company. Williamson was appointed as the executive vice president and group publisher of Word Publishing.[6] In December 1992, Word was acquired by Thomas Nelson, located in Nashville, TN. Williamson was then appointed as the President of Thomas Nelson and Word.[2][3] In 1999, Williamson founded Integrity Publishers in 2001.[7][8] Nashville-based Integrity established a leadership position in the Christian book industry, publishing Jesus Calling by Sarah Young in 2004.[5][citation needed]
