Burichang Salafia Madrasha is a private religious institution[1] located in the southeastern region of Comilla, Burichang Upazila, Bangladesh. It was founded in 2017 with the goal of providing religious eucation to Muslim youth based on the teachings of the Salaf. The madrasha has grown rapidly in recent years, and by the 2024 academic year, the number of students enrolled had reached 650.
The madrasha offers educational programs in both Islamic studies and general subjects, with a focus on Arabic, Bengali, and English. It has departments for boys and girls, including a Kitab Department offering courses from Maktab (Level 1) to Alim (2nd Year), and a Hifz Department for Quran memorization. The madrasha also offers a Kitab Department for girls, with courses from Maktab to Class Alim also Dawra Hadith.
History
[edit]The madrasha was established in response to the spread of practices not aligned with traditional Islamic teachings, such as grave worship and the seeking of intercession from the deceased. The founders aimed to provide an alternative that would offer a more authentic and academically rigorous Islamic education. The madrasha has since gained recognition within the local community for its academic efforts.
Facilities and enrollment
[edit]The madrasha currently operates in rented buildings, with approximately 250 students residing and studying in these accommodations. Although the institution has expanded rapidly since its establishment, challenges remain regarding the provision of adequate classroom and residential facilities.
