Bronagh Kane is an Irish footballer who plays as a Midfielder for League of Ireland Women's Premier Division club DLR Waves.[1] She previously played for Kilkenny United W.F.C., Athlone Town A.F.C. and Bohemian F.C. Women.
Club career
[edit]Bronagh Kane began her senior league League of Ireland Women's Premier Division football career at Kilkenny United W.F.C. in 2017, where she stayed for 3 seasons, making numerous appearances for the club and captaining the side[2][3]. Prior to the 2020 season, Kilkenny WFC were refused a licence by the Football Association of Ireland, which led to the departure of Bronagh Kane and the rest of the squad [4]
Bronagh Kane moved to Athlone Town[5] initially at the start of the 2020 season, before transferring to Bohemian F.C. Women in July during the summer transfer window [6][7][8]. Kane would make 44 appearances over the next three years for Bohemians football club[9]. In 2021, she memorably scored two goals for Bohemians against Treaty United within 37 seconds[10], which briefly brought Bohemians to the top of the league for the first time in their history[11]. A highlight of her time at Bohemians was featuring on the team that reached the 2022 FAI Cup semi-finals[12], where they were knocked out in a narrow defeat to that year's league and cup champions, Shelbourne F.C. (women).
Prior to the 2023 season, Bronagh Kane left Bohemians along with team mates Hannah Tobin Jones, Freya Roche, Oleta Griffin and Isobel Finnegan, to join the southside Dublin football club DLR Waves.[13][14]. Kane made 18 appearances for DLR Waves in the 2023 season and continues to play for DLR Waves in 2024[15][16]. As well as being a football player, Bronagh Kane has an UEFA A Coaching Licence and is working towards further coaching qualifications [12]
