Borunasury is a charming village located in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) within Lawngtlai District, Mizoram. It is inhabited primarily by the Chakma community, an indigenous group known for their distinct culture and traditions. The village lies in the southeastern part of Mizoram, an area characterized by rolling hills, lush green forests, and a humid subtropical climate. The abundance of this vegetable in the region is so notable that the village itself is named after it, with "sury" meaning "place," making Borunasury essentially "the place where Borunasak is available naturally in abundant."
Borunasury's residents are primarily engaged in agriculture, with the cultivation of crops such as rice, maize, and various vegetables being the mainstay of their economy. The village also depends on traditional farming techniques and forest-based resources for their livelihood.
In terms of governance, Borunasury falls under the jurisdiction of the Chakma Autonomous District Council, which has the authority to oversee local administrative matters and development projects.
