Blinkies (or old internet/web blinkies) are small animated GIFs designed for putting on a website, that usually consists of an image, a text, with possible flashing lights, hence the name. Blinkies can be used to show who you are as a person, and what you like. Blinkies were relatively popular among teenagers during the 2000s, being used on personal websites on web hosting services like GeoCities, or on personal user pages on social networking services like MySpace.
