Introductory

Black Souls is an Adult, Souls-like, Single-player JRPG game developed by Sushi Yuusha Toro using the RPG Maker VX Ace Engine. It is the first game in the Black Souls series with Black Souls 2 (video game) being its successor and Red Hood's Woods (video game) being the predecessor.

Black Souls references many fairy tales and folktales, notably Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood and just to name a few since it references a many too much to mention at once. It details how cruel a person could be according to the player's options which is to kill, rape or ignoring, the story may change depending on how the player interacts with the characters.

Mechanics/ Gameplay

There is a Sin feature which influences how a character's dialogues and as well as how they interact with you. To acquire a sin is to rape or kill any NPCs with the exceptions of them being the demon princesses, demons, bosses and enemies that are hostile.

Story

Beginning in a dungeon, you seemed to be locked up behind a prison held back behind bars, a woman by the name of Jeane d'arc approaches you, noticing you being undead, hesitate to slay you due to your "innocence", spares you. You acquire a key from a dead corpse and unlocked the gates, exploring the outside, a castle in the midst of a battle. Exploring more of the castle, you meet Jeane once again but interrupted by a dragon ravaging upon the kingdom. You and Jeane fought together but lost, the dragon then unleashed its fiery breath on Jeane, turning her into a pile of ashes, you retreated.

Whilst running away, you encounter a fairy named Leaf. Leaf then becomes your companion which would accompany you throughout your journey

You arrive in the Holy Forest. In the Holy Forest, there are fairies and a wounded hero who speaks of 5 demon princesses that cause chaos upon the world, you must venture into different paths to find the 4 and slay them before you could encounter the final one.

Endings

There are multiple endings.

Your ending.

Endings tied to specific companions but Leaf has 2 possible ones which triggers depending whether you have equipped Leaf's ring or not.

But then there is the true ending route which has 2 possible ends, it occurs only if you have entered the correct or wrong answer. Entering the wrong answer kills you and sends you back to where you had saved. However, entering the right answer leads you to a boss fight, winning the fight would trigger a special scene which Alice congratulates you and calls you the creator.

Trivia

• Mary Sue is a fictional being detailed to be flawless with no possible weaknesses, hence why it is the main antagonist of the story.

• The Prayer Master wished for freedom of which was granted, resulting in the first Alice's gruesome death. The term death is used likely since she never did die. ooo I spoke too much.

• Wonderland is a reference to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland if it weren't obvious enough, trying to leave Wonderland through where you came from will lead you to the same place, a rabbit hole.

• The game is like a story book, you flip to the last page, just turn to the front cover, and read it all over again forever. Will be referenced later in the series.
