The Bible Alliance of Benin was officially formed in 1986. Its activities include translation, distribution, literacy, and church relations. The Bible Society of Benin is a recognized member of the United Bible Societies. The headquarters of the society is located in Cotonou, Benin.[1].

History

In May 1983, Barson, the Director of the Bible Society of Togo, proposed creating a Bible repository in Cotonou, Benin, with support from the Interfaith Council and its leaders[2]. It would later launch the French Current Bible in 1988. Since then the society has published other bible translations in minority language groups in Benin[3]
