Beverly Victor Baranco Jr. was a barber, fraternal organization leader, Republican organizer, and family patriarch.

Election commissioner.[1] This would have been his father??? He was involved in the disputed 1876 election.[2]

Sr.? Jr. (March 20, 1869-?) was an insurance businessman and fraternal organization leader in Baton Rouge. He was in the masons and an Odd Fellow.[3]

He was born and raised in Baton Rouge. He attended Straight College.[4]

Letter carrier.[5]

In 1872 he helped establish a cemetery for African Americans as part of the Lutheran Benefit Society.[6]


In 1919 he was a leader in the Lincoln League of America advocating for voting rights.[7]


He was a leader in the Odd Fellows and an Odd Fellows Temple was built in Baton Rouge in 1925?

He had eight children. One of them Raphael Baranco Sr. was a dentist and school official who opposed segregation and advocated for educational opportunities for African Americans.[8]

One of his grandchildren appeared on the show History Makers.[9]

Arbold Vernon Baranco (1915-1987) was a family member.[10] Other family members.[11] Musician Wilbert Baranco is also a family member.
