Beamex Oy Ab is a company specializing in calibration technology for process instruments. Beamex's headquarters is located in Pietarsaari.[1]

Beamex designs and manufactures calibration devices, calibration-related software, various services, as well as maintenance and support functions. In 1990, it received the Export Award from the President of Finland.[2]

The Beamex Group comprises the parent company, Beamex Oy Ab, and its subsidiaries: Beamex Inc. (USA), Beamex Ltd. (UK), Beamex S.A.S. (France), and Beamex GmbH (Germany, known as Germex GmbH until 2017).[3] Beamex also has offices in India, China, and Saudi Arabia.

Beamex's partner network sells its products worldwide, with over 80 partners globally. Beamex has more than 14,000 customers across over 130 countries.[4]

Since 1984, Beamex has been part of the Finnish Sarlin Group.[5]

History

[edit]

In 1975, instrument technicians Eero Halonen, Krister Knuts, Veijo Meriläinen, and Nils-Erik Sundfors worked at the Schaumann (later UPM) pulp mill in Pietarsaari. Frustrated with the calibration tools of that time, they decided to start their own company to develop these devices. Beamex began its operations in the basement of a local fish shop. The first calibrator intended for sale was named the VA Calibrator and was launched in 1976.

In 1984, Sarlin acquired Beamex, which at the time had 17 employees and a turnover of just over one million euros, with approximately 70% of revenue coming from exports.

Eero Halonen served as the company's first CEO until October 1998. He was succeeded by Dr. Raimo Ahola, who led the company for 17 years before retiring. Since 2015, Jan-Henrik Svensson has been the CEO.
