The Battle of Kisa was an ambush led by forces loyal to Nils Dacke against a landschkneckt army loyal to Gustav Vasa in 1542. The rebels won a large victory, nearly destroying the entire landschkneckt army and taking large amounts of equipment
Background
[edit]Beginning of the Dacke War
[edit]In midsummer of 1542, Nils Dacke, a group of outlaws and former peasants, who rallied around him in the forest, attacked three royal advocates near Södra More, who had been sent to districts around Kalmar to collect taxes.[1] During the next few weeks, more of Gustav's royal advocates and stewards were attacked and killed.[2]
