Bangladesh Labor Party was established in 1974 under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Matin. In the first year of its establishment, when all political parties were banned on January 25, 1975, the Labor Party was also banned. In 1977, when Shaheed Ziaur Rahman gave the opportunity to practice multi-party democracy, the Bangladesh Labor Party regained its life on October 22, 1977 under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Matin and Maulana Ghulam Mustafa. Later, when the Nationalist Front was formed on May 7, 1978 under the leadership of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia's NAP, Shah Azizur Rahman's Muslim League, Justice Sattar's Jagdal, Maulana Matin's Labor Party, Kazi Zafar's UPP and the Scheduled Castes Federation alliance actively participated in politics. Currently, the Chairman of the Labor Party is Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran. Since 2007, the party has been conducting and participating in political activities as a like-minded party with a nationalist spirit under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia. When the 18-party alliance (currently the 20-party alliance) was formed in 2012 on 18 April under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia, the Bangladesh Labor Party played a role in the politics of the alliance as one of the partners.in 2017 the leader of Bangladesh labour party was detained in Chittagong [[1]]Later, when the 20-party alliance was dissolved in 2022, the party joined the 12-party alliance. Later, the party left the 12-party alliance due to differences with the leaders of the 12-party alliance, but a section led by Lion Farooq Ahmed joined the 12-party alliance. The party has faced splits at various times. The first split was in 2017 under the leadership of the then Secretary General of the party, Hamadullah Mehdi. He is currently leading that section.
